A young man was shocked to death and his lifeless body was left hanging after he scaled an electric pole to damage a transformer.
The incident happened in the Ute- Okpu community in Ogbe Quarters, Ike North-East Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria.
Residents became alarmed when they discovered the body of the unidentified man hanging from the power pole.
“A young child who was heading to the next village informed us that a dead body was hanging from an electric pole. Due to the rain, which kept us in our beds since the morning, we have been inside.
“Due to the rain, we stayed indoors. We came out to our frontage, but we failed to notice the young man’s lifeless body hanging there. The fact that the body was holding an electrical cord indicates that he was cutting it.
We had been without electricity for a while, but the BEDC restored it at three in the morning; only God knows what happened. Before the corpse was taken down, the police were notified by the vigilance members in this neighborhood, according to residents quoted by Pulse.ng.
An inquiry into the incident has started, according to DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).
