Deliveroo, a UK-based meal delivery service, has announced it is leaving Australia due to the country’s challenging economic climate.

The business’s 2015-established Australian division is entering voluntary administration.
Deliveroo is under increasing pressure to treat its 15,000 riders like employees as the nation’s new administration has promised to enhance the working conditions for gig workers.
Rivals like Uber Eats and Menulog have also been a threat to it.
Deliveroo announced that it has ceased taking orders through its app, and anyone who attempted to do so would be greeted with an error message.
“This was a challenging choice that we did not make lightly. We would like to extend our gratitude to all of our staff members, customers, riders, and retail partners who have contributed to the Australian business over the past seven years “Eric French, the chief operating officer of Deliveroo, stated to investors.
Our priority right now is ensuring the support of our partners, staff, and riders throughout this period, the speaker continued.
