The two NDC officers had been engaged in heated arguments with one another over the past few days, which was viewed as unfavourable for an opposition party hoping to win back power in the 2024 election.

In the recently concluded National Youth Organizer election, Opare Addo accused Sammy Gamfi of backing his closest rival, Ernest Yaw Brogya Genfi, against him. Sammy Gamfi refuted the claim.

On December 15, 2022, Mahama posted on his Facebook page, “I’ve had discussions with our Youth Organizer and Communications Officer and agreed with them that the present exchanges must end.”

He explained that the incident does not bode well for the party and that it will only serve to highlight the incompetence of the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party government, therefore he deemed it prudent to intervene to allow cooler heads to prevail.
