Shatta Wale, a dancehall musician, has taken to social media to provide a reason for his absence from the Hogbetsotso Beach Rave in Tegbi, Volta region.

It was previously stated that Shatta, the event’s headliner performer, did not appear on stage despite having arrived in town.

It’s interesting to note that despite arriving to the event venue in vehicles that the organisers had rented for him and his team, Shatta Wale was never located. Parts of the statement from the organisers stated, “All attempts by the two management teams to convince him to come to the concert grounds and play to the waiting crowd proved failed.

It was reported to be a chaotic scene as angry spectators attacked several organisers by throwing rocks at them and wrecking their equipment.

Shatta has spoken out on social media after remaining silent for days to explain his absence from the stage.

The Dancehall singer gave his own account of events, claiming that the organisers had insulted him.

Shatta backed up his claim with the claim that he was transported directly to a radio station to give an interview despite having previously made an agreement with organisers not to take part in such a plan or even greet any leader.

He said that when one of the organisers threatened to stop paying for his lodging if he declined the interview, that’s when he left.

However, a disgruntled Shatta questioned whether a foreign performer could also be treated unfairly.

“Massa, do you insist that I carry all of my bags to the radio station where I have an interview? Ask yourself if that is how they handle foreign performers. When they arrive at the airport, do they take them to radio stations right away? Do even some international performers who arrive with live bands bring everything to the radio station? Did Usher transport his band and all of his luggage to radio stations for interviews when he visited Ghana?
