Be composure Leader of Burkina Faso claims

Lt Col Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, the president of Burkina Faso, has issued a statement on the official Facebook page of the presidency urging the populace to “remain calm and be careful” despite reports of gunshots and a significant military presence in the nation’s capital.

Although there have been rumours of a coup, a government official who chose to remain unnamed informed the BBC that several soldiers had mutinied.

Lt Col Damiba added that people shouldn’t become alarmed by what they see on social media.

In the midst of a “confused” scenario brought on by some army members, talks are in progress to “establish peace and tranquillity,” according to the statement.

The statement said, “The adversary assaulting our country just seeks division within Burkinabès to achieve its destabilisation activity.
