One additional suspect has been taken into custody by the police in connection with the Asaman Tamfoe heist, bringing the total number of suspects taken into custody to five.
Yahaya Adama, the suspect and alleged mastermind of the robbery, was apprehended at his home in Akwaboaso, Eastern Region.
He acknowledged that he had not received GHS11,000.00 from the loot.
On May 27, 2022, the suspect and his crew of seven armed robbers broke into a gold buying business in Asaman Tamfoe, looted it, and shot two security guards dead before fleeing with more than GHS 100,000.00.
Five of the seven robbers have already been taken into custody by the police as a result of ongoing intelligence operations. Suspect Ali Ousmanu, who shot the security guard, was detained on June 4 in Akanten near Asesewa. Suspect Elvis Kwaasi was detained on June 15 in Asaman Tamfoe.
