Sarkodie finally recognized by Grammy as the notable artist on the Global music scene

Originally featuring King Promise, Labadi, according to Sarkodie was inspired by the idea of a boat party with “good people.” In the press statement, Sarkodie added: “It’s about fun times with loved ones… just taking time off to enjoy life on the ocean.”

On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, the Recording Academy launched a new Grammy initiative called Global Spin. It was a buttress to the GRAMMY Awards updating the Best World Music Album category to Best Global Music Album category “to honour artists across the globe” in 2020.

“A platform to support international artists, Global Spin is born out of the exploding global music scene taking the world by storm today.

“Each episode of Global Spin will feature a performance from a notable artist or group and will celebrate both the creators and their home countries,” a statement on Grammy.com reads.

Spotlighting Ghana’s Sarkodie thus signals the Recording Academy’s recognition of his talent and legacy as a global music force.

The rapper is currently on his Jamz World Tour which has had dates and destinations in Europe and North America.

Sarkodie is also one of 13 African artistes featured on a posthumous album containing classics by Bob Marley & The Wailers and titled Africa Unite.
