Vicki Hill was awakened early on May 14 by the sound of explosions outside her Bethesda, Maryland, house.

She later found out that the loud bangs were caused by the airbags of the family’s 2015 Nissan Murano SUV, which was parked in the driveway. It was ablaze.
“I woke my husband up and said something’s wrong because I thought someone was trying to get into our house with a sledgehammer,” the woman told CNN. “Then he sprinted downstairs and yelled, ‘Dial 911, the car’s on fire!'”
The family gave CNN access to doorbell camera footage from their house, which shows smoke rising before the fire breaks out and consumes the automobile.
The cause of the fire in the Murano remains unknown. The fire is under investigation by Nissan. The National Highway Traffic Administration is gathering information on the fire as well.
When the Nissan Murano caught fire, vehicle was parked in Phillip Hill’s driveway.

In response to an email enquiring about the fire, a Nissan representative stated in a statement, “The safety and security of our customers is our primary concern.” “We’ve started looking into this incident.”
Nissan issued recalls for the Hills Murano in 2016 and 2019 to address an issue that might cause brake fluid to leak and ignite a fire even when the car is parked. Due to fire concerns, owners were advised at the time to keep their cars outside and away from buildings until the problem was fixed.
