Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been found guilty after he was convicted of three felony counts for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The rapper was sentenced to jail on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, for shooting a fellow rapper in the foot. Throughout the trials, he was also convicted of assault. He will be spending the next 10 years in prison.

Megan Thee Stallion,28, legal name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete was shot by Tory Lanez real name Daystar Peterson,31, a rapper from Canada. Tory shot Megan Thee Stallion after a pool party in July 2020 hosted by Kylie Jenner. Following the incident, Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion both played out their part of the story on social media and in music before the trial.

Per Megan Thee Stallion’s assertion, during the party in Kylie Jenner’s home, she was driving with her friend Tory Lanez in an SUV, that was after the party. An argument broke out in the SUV and she exited the vehicle. Tory Lanez then pulled a gun and ordered her to dance and started shooting at her foot. When he was done with his shooting, Tory Lanez apologized to Megan her and Kelsey Harris, who was also in the car. Megan said Lanez offered them $1 million to gag.

On that faithful day, the police arrived at the scene but Megan Thee Stallion lied and kept the information away from them. Megan Thee Stallion told the cops her foot injuries occurred when she stepped on the grass. Eventually, Mega addressed her decision to hide sensitive information from the police in her song ” Shot Fired”.She later testified and explain her decision claiming tension was high after George Floyd’s death.

What Did Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion Say During Trials?

Rapper Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday. This comes after his conviction in 2022 for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The jury found him guilty on three counts; assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered gun in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

During the trial, Tory Lanez said she considered Megan a friend and that he did wrong during the night. Initially, prosecutors demanded 13 years for the Canadian rapper but the jury finalized his 10 years sentence. Lanez reps claimed they were going to appeal.

Megan Thee Stallion, on the other hand, testified during the trials in a written statement about how she went through difficulty after the incident. She claimed she had no peace and went through a lot. Megan also received threats from social media, she admitted.

How Did The Jurry Sentence Tory Lanez?

During the Trial, prosecutors presented a text Ms. Harrsi sent to Tory Lanez’s bodyguard which says ” Help and Tory Shot Meg”. The prosecutors also presented a text that Tory sent to Megan to apologize after the incident. Though it was said that there was a lack of physical evidence to assert the case, the jury found a reason to sentence Tory Lanez. Mr. Lanez DNA had also not been found in the Gun Magazine. The whole fracas occurred on July 11,20202 and Lanez’s attorney will be seeking for appeal.
