“You Will Be Charge With Assault If You Beat Student In Class”- Yaw Adutwum To Teachers

“Teachers want to beat people’s children but when they go home, but they don’t beat their own children. They have their own way of ensuring discipline in their wards with just words. All SHS in Ghana will have a dean in charge of discipline. It is the dean who can know the kind of punishment to give to the child. Some teachers assault their students due to the kind of anger they had at the moment”

He added that the free SHS education has not brought about Indiscipline in schools. He revealed that Indiscipline has been in schools since day one and this government is finding new ways to curb it. He believes that the introduction of disciplinary deans in schools would help.

“What is the data to show that before the introduction of the free SHS education, students were disciplined. We have all being to secondary school and we know the issues in there. We know it. So before you tell this, you need to give me data. Their numbers have increased so if person used to be indiscipline, then more will join in now. So it is not the question that it is free SHS that has brought indiscipline in SHS” he said.

He suggested that cleaning the dining hall after lunch or breakfast is punishment schools could adopt.
