Though not limited to Google, the biggest search engine in the world, the so-called hallucinations caused by generative AI technologies are coming under increased scrutiny.
In a perplexing instance, a reporter who Googled “can’t use gasoline to cook spaghetti faster” was informed “no, but you can use gasoline to make a spicy spaghetti dish” along with a recipe.
It’s difficult to publish these less humorous searches on social media, so we’re not sure how many queries AI Search managed to get correct, but it’s obvious that it needs to be capable of handling all queries, including the more unusual ones.
Similar criticism is being directed at other companies for trying to pack more AI features into their consumer-facing goods.
