The Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health received the first shipment of infant immunizations for Measles-Rubella (MR), Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), and Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) on March 11.
This occurs shortly after sector minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu promised the country of the shipping of the vaccines while speaking on the floor of Parliament.
The assurance I will make and can give for the first time in this chamber is that this will not happen again because it is a very serious matter of public interest.
I’ll recommend that you support me in my efforts to advocate for proper financing for vaccines, including the health insurance budget. As a result, whenever we meet with committees, they always bring it up. Even in the chamber, it has been brought up. If Parliament gives us enough approval and we always have a good budget, we will be able to supply. Whatever the difficulties, I can guarantee you that I don’t believe we will experience them again.
