Alhaji Fawan Iddi Issah, co-founder and energy analyst at the African Institute for Energy Policy and Security, has questioned why New Patriotic Party presidential hopefuls watch their government struggle to run the country while dealing with numerous economic and other difficulties while going about spreading ideas they assert are strong enough to improve Ghana.

He asserts that it only makes sense for them to share those flowery ideas with their faltering government in order to address the issues facing the nation rather than disowning it and claiming to be the country’s saviors—even though some of them were a part of it for years.

“A current vice president, past ministers, and advisors to this government are among the NPP’s candidates for president. each disseminating a fresh viewpoint. There is a recognition of how terrible we have become. Why not give them to the government if they really do have superior ideas for running things?On July 31st, Alhaji Issa posted something on Twitter.

Ten candidates have currently successfully submitted their nominations, and they are now canvassing the country to convince NPP delegates to elect them as the party’s next flagbearer to guide it into the 2024 election.

A screening committee has approved the participation of the following people in the NPP primary: Assin Central’s representative in parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, Former trade and industry minister Alan Kyerematen, vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ex-food and agriculture minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto, ex-energy minister Boakye Agyarko, ex-member of parliament for Asante Mampong Edward Addai-Nimo, and economist Kofi Konadu Apraku are just a few of the individuals mentioned.
