The sergeant had urged the President to address the soldiers’ condition, noting that in order to fund their demands, soldiers were now “engaged in unlawful jobs, sabotage, arms and ammunition transaction, armed robbery and kidnapping.”

“In my capacity as a trustee of the Nigerian Armed Forces, I respectfully address this letter to you, who requested that we serve the country. The Nigeria Army (NA) was established as the armed forces’ ground force to protect Nigeria from external assault, maintain its territorial integrity, and assist civil authorities in reestablishing order when necessary, according to the letter.

“Men of the armed forces give their lives in the face of security issues plaguing the country. Although there are hazards involved, NA still feel it is their job and duty to provide for the needs and services of soldiers, regardless of the long-term effects that may result. That “soldiers are illiterates with no possibility for a prosperous future” might be the idea.

Unfortunately, sir, despite the system’s insistence on patriotism, discipline, devotion, and dedication to duty, we find it challenging to support our families and our own homes while serving in the military due to our inadequate pay.

We painfully spend the same pay on uniforms, boots, and other military equipment to serve Nigeria. Your soldering pay is broken down here each day and month.
