Except for cross-country travel, the government prohibits the use of V8, V6 automobiles.
According to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, using V8 and V6 automobiles by government employees will expire in January 2023 as a way to cut down on spending.
On November 24, 2022, the Finance Minister revealed it while presenting the 2023 budget to the legislature.
He stated: “V8/V6 vehicles are not allowed to be used, with the exception of cross-country driving. From January 2023, all government vehicles would be registered with GV green license plates.”
Also from him: “The financial amount allotted for the acquisition of vehicles will be modest. For the avoidance of confusion, only locally produced vehicles may be purchased brand-new.”
“Only absolutely necessary official travel abroad, especially for SOEs, will be permitted. Board members shall not be permitted to go abroad for official business… In light of this, the Chief of Staff should receive a travel plan from all government agencies for the year 2023 by mid-December “Added he.
