For the first time, former president John Dramani Mahama has discussed the last-minute concerns that almost caused the party’s May 13 legislative and presidential primaries to be called off.

As the election approached, an injunction issued by candidate Kwabena Duffuor endangered the process before it was dropped.

Duffuor later withdrew from the race after questioning the accuracy of the voter list and photo album as well as their release to his campaign team.

After casting his ballot in Bole on May 13, journalists questioned Mahama about the election as a whole.

“The issue with this one is that they decided to file an injunction on the process only a few days before the elections, and they later withdrew the injunction and withdrew from the race,” he retorted.

“It made it difficult to deal with some of the issues they were raising at that time, so, I think that is where the problem is, but again, these things happen, and we just look forward,” he said.

Mahama triumphs handily

While this was going on, Mahama made his first speech since being elected as the NDC’s presidential flagbearer.
