The president of Ghana disclosed this information via a tweet:

The Ghanaian president who was in attendance for the coronation of King Charles the Third at Westminster Abbey, additionally relayed on his Facebook page, that he met with the Canadian prime minister, stating simply that: “On Sunday, 7th May 2023, I held bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of the government of Canada, His Excellency Justin Trudeau, in London.”

Ghanaian business publication GhanaBusiness.com claims that Canada and Ghana work closely together to find practical solutions to the world’s most pressing issues in international fora like the Commonwealth, ICAO, International Criminal Court, and United Nations.

The article also mentioned how the two countries have effectively collaborated to achieve the goals of UNESCO, the Open Government Partnership (OGP), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). It is estimated that Canada has given more over $2.5 billion in development aid over the past 60 years to promote goals that Ghana and Canada both share.

As a result, Ghana has received assistance in its efforts to improve its agricultural systems, livelihoods, and food security, especially for the underprivileged rural people in the north.

Both Ghana’s “Ghana Beyond Aid” program and Canada’s feminist international aid policy call for significant development assistance from Canada, amounting to $94.09 million in the 2020–2021 budget year.
