On Monday, November 14, 2022, the President dismissed Charles Adu Boahen, his Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance.
This information was included in a statement the presidency released on Monday, according to which the dismissal would be effective right away.
The statement read, “Mr. Charles Adu Boahen’s appointment as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance has been terminated with immediate effect by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
The president gave justifications for the firing, stating that they were based on his knowledge that the minister had been accused of wrongdoing.
The statement further stated that the accusations support an undercover investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The announcement further stated that an investigation would be conducted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
The President spoke with Mr. Adu Boahen after becoming aware of the accusations made against the Minister in the exposé “Galamsey Economy,” at which time he decided to rescind his appointment and refer the case to the Special Prosecutor for additional research.
