Cocoyam and yam are the new inclusions.

After successfully making several bunches of plantains available to some Civil and Local Government personnel on Friday, November 11, 2022 for GHS10, GHS15, and GHS25, respectively, depending on the size, the Ministry is now introducing some additional goods.

On November 14, 2022, the ministry’s public relations officer, Bagbara Tanko, stated to Emmanuel Quarshie, the host of the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra 100.5 FM, that the minister was inspired to implement the pilot market project as a result of his observations while touring the Western North Region.

He claims that when the regional director of the MoFA gave his report during the minister’s visit to the area and highlighted Planting for Food and Jobs, a bunch of plantains was sold for GHS5 only.

He continued by saying that, similar to what was taking on in Accra, MoFA directors in the Central Region had already launched what they called a farmer’s market.

According to him, the minister was inspired by this and began to ponder why the same foods were priced so highly in metropolitan areas.
