Theft of enormous sums of money, including £800 and US$114K, from an attorney’s home in Airport Residential

Two more suspects, Mawuli Heletsi and David Kokvina, sought refuge with their spiritual father in Dambai, Oti Region, after the robbery to avoid capture and possible harm.

All of the defendants have entered a not guilty plea to the accusations leveled against them. The trial started on July 12, 2023, and since then there have been multiple adjournments and charge sheet modifications.

While the trial is ongoing, some of the defendants have been granted free by the court while others are still in police custody. The matter is scheduled to be heard again on July 31, 2023.

The accusers are said to dwell in different Accra neighborhoods, according to the case, which Superintendent Augustine Yirenkyi presented.

Lawyer Hamida was robbed of the specified money and belongings on March 26, 2022, when Mawuli Heletsi, who was wearing a mask and an all-black outfit, is said to have entered her room brandishing a gun.

On the basis of CCTV footage and information acquired throughout the inquiry, some of the accused people were arrested after lawyer Hamida immediately reported the incident to the police.

The trial is still ongoing, and additional measures are being taken to capture any suspected other co-conspirators. As the case develops, the court continues to hear testimony and evidence.
